Good job, Oscar folks. For the most part, I thought the Academy Awards was a classy production. I enjoyed the number Hugh Jackman did with Beyonce. To me, it was Old Hollywood-style entertainment, and that's what the Oscars should be.
I also liked how the Best Actors/Actresses awards were presented. It was a nice way to honor the nominees.
I haven’t seen all of the movies or the performances that were nominated, so I can't comment on all of the winners. But I’m thrilled that Sean Penn won Best Actor and Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Actor. They were my top picks.
For those of you who follow this blog, you'll recall that I saw Milk on Xmas Day in San Francisco and thought it was a fabulous movie with a phenomenal cast, hence my rooting for Sean. He embodied Harvey Milk. As for Heath, I was awed by his portrayal of The Joker, but who wasn't? He was brilliant.
The only thing I didn’t like was Ben Stiller’s jab at Jaoquin Phoenix. Okay, so Joaquin has been acting strange lately, but it didn't seem right to poke fun at him in a public arena with his peers. I thought it was in poor taste.
Yes, it's possible that Jaoquin's behavior is a hoax. But what if it isn't? What if he's suffering from a mental illness or is having a breakdown? Hollywood should be kinder to its own.

Quiet Sunday
It's raining and I'm working. Later I'm going to watch the Oscars and see if it's as good as they keep saying it will be.
Hope you're having a nice day.

Did you watch it? I thought it was a really good production. I enjoyed all of the performances and thought the winners were well deserved. Sometimes those award shows suck, but this one had true entertainment value. I wonder how the Oscars will hold up?
