A Flor do Desejo

Today I received a wonderful letter from a reader in Angola-Africa who read the Portuguese edition of The Art of Desire. She told me how beautiful she thought the story was and how real the characters were to her. In honor of her letter, I posted the cover of the Portuguese edition.

San Francisco and Oregon Pictures

I'm finally getting a chance to recap my Christmas and New Years trip. On Christmas Day, Nikki (my son) and I saw the 3D version of Avatar (super movie!), then went back to his apartment and made Tofurkey (vegetarian turkey) with all the trimmings. I didn't take any pictures on Christmas Day (my bad), but here are few other San Francisco shots.

This is the lobby of Nikki's apartment building in the city.

The ceiling in the lobby. I love the architecture in the Bay Area.

Nikki enjoying Thai food at a wonderful eatery a few blocks from his apartment. This was taken on Dec. 23rd, the day I arrived.

When I left San Francisco on the 26th, I flew directly to Oregon to visit my sister. One of the highlights of my Portland trip was when we went to see New Moon and came out of the theater to a blanket of snow. The weather forecast proclaimed clear skys, but that wasn't the case. In fact, the roads were such a mess, we were unable to get back to her house. Luckily we found a Motel 6 and stayed there until the next morning. We didn't have anything with us, but there was a Walgreen's Drugstore nearby where we bought some cheapy sweats to sleep in. Across the street from the motel was a Taco Bell where we had dinner.

I snapped this when we walked out of the theater.

Dinner at Taco Bell.

Me at the motel, wearing my Walgreen's T-shirt and sweats.
